Because in my head? I’m already paddling into turquoise waters—barefoot, sun-kissed, and totally at peace.
Wolf Lake and Paradise Lagoon are at the very top of my paddle list this year—and if you’ve never heard of them, you’re in for a treat.
Where is it?
Wolf Lake is part of the Chiniguchi Waterway Provincial Park, tucked northeast of Sudbury.
You can get there via Kukagami Lake Road, about a 1.5–2 hour drive depending on road conditions. Launch near Matagamasi Lake and paddle into a remote, pristine wilderness of crystal-clear water, towering old-growth red pines, and silence that wraps around you like a blanket.
What makes it special? • Some of the clearest freshwater in Ontario • Home to the world’s largest old-growth red pine forest—300+ years old • Paradise Lagoon—an offshoot with water so blue it feels tropical • No cottages. No crowds. No service. Just peace.
This isn’t just a destination—it’s a full-body exhale.
You can make it a day trip (if you’re speedy and experienced) or pack your camping gear and give yourself the weekend reset you deserve.
What I’d pack for my paddle escape: • A kayak or lightweight canoe • Waterproof phone case (for pics—not notifications!) • Snacks, water, sunscreen, and yes—bug spray • My Costco cocoon hammock (don’t judge—it’s magic) • A journal for those pine-scented thoughts • Maybe even a canvas + some paints to capture the stillness in colour • And a friend or two who understands the beauty of quiet
I even made myself a little vision board with a printable packing list + reflection prompts—because this isn’t just a paddle.
It’s a reset.
