"The Red Shirt Day® Walk for Accessibility and Inclusion is more than just a walk—it’s a way for our community to come together and help raise awareness and support for an important cause," says MJ Pappin, Community Engagement Officer for Easter Seals Ontario in Sudbury. "Every step taken is a step toward a more accessible and inclusive future for everyone in the Sudbury community.”
In Ontario, the deadline for achieving full accessibility under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) has passed. At a time when so many urgent issues are competing for attention, Easter Seals Ontario underscores the importance of keeping accessibility and inclusion at the forefront:
“While accessibility and disability inclusion are often overlooked in broader conversations, the reality is that they affect all of us,” says Kevin Collins, President and CEO at Easter Seals Ontario. “At some point in our lives, especially as we age, we will all need to utilize accessibility services and features. That’s why Easter Seals Ontario is proud to lead efforts that champion accessibility, promote inclusion, and drive meaningful change for people with disabilities.”
“By participating in Red Shirt Day® and taking action, we send a powerful message of solidarity and support,” states Collins. “Together, we can break down barriers and build a future where we set goals, not limits, for people with disabilities.”
