March was Music Therapy Month! As we wrap up the month, I thought I would take a moment to review what music therapy is.
Music therapy is the purposeful use of music as a tool within a therapeutic relationship, carried out by a certified music therapist, to help accomplish (usually) non-musical goals. We develop treatment plans, goals and objectives based on what the client needs. These could be cognitive, communicative, emotional, physical, social, or spiritual goals.
We work with clients with Alzheimer's, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Global Developmental Delays, Mental Health, Stroke, and many more!
We come to you! We go to group homes, private homes, long-term care and retirement homes, hospitals, hospices, schools, and many other locations!
We are proud to bring health and wellness through the power of music to those in need in Greater Sudbury!
